Two representatives, Bradley van Sitters (CochoKhoe Council) and Brenton Edson, from KSAAG were invited to the Sarah Baartman Ceremony in Hankey, Eastern Cape, on Sat. 7 March 2009, which was also attended by Royal Khoe Khoe and San Chieftainships, Traditional Council Members, government officials and approximately 5 000 observers. The ceremony was a two prong event whereby it was moved the following day to the University of Western Cape.

At the burial site of Sarah Baartman in Hankey, Prins the “horingdraer” led the processions with the burning of “hotnotskooigoed” followed by Inqua Chieftaines Margaret Coetsee, Ghonaqua Chieftaines Jean Burgess, Chief Joseph Little, Attequa Chief Poem Mooney, Charlene Moonsamey of the Hoeniqua, Minister of Arts and Culture Paulo Jordan, amongst others. The Ceremony also featured performances of traditional song and dance, and the establishment of the Centre of Remembrance for Sarah Baartman in Hankey was announced.
