On request of Mr. Boichoko Moremi, Northern Province PanSALB Manager, the Chairperson of KSAAG attended the KSLB national meeting on 16 July 2009 at the PanSALB offices in Kimberley.

On the programme for the day, time was allocated between 11:35 – 13:00 for 3 presentations by:
• Mr.Louis Nel (Western Cape Department of Sport & Cultural Affairs- Language Unit) dealing with maintaining Partnerships
• Mr. Bradley van Sitters (Nama Activist- KSAAG Chairperson) focusing on Nama promotions, plans, challenges & Partnerships
• Mr. Billies Pamo (SASI- South African San Institute) discussing their progress in Platfontein and beyond)

 

Each of the delegates had 10 minutes to do their presentations and afterwards followed a question and answers session whereby Board members commented and discuss the presentations in an open forum.

To highlight some points of discussion:
• Mr. Louis Nel
Aims and objectives of the Basic Introduction to the Nama language project
- To offer the basic introduction to the Nama language workshops to the four interested communities
- To further expand the reach of the awareness campaign on Khoisan languages in the Western Cape from 8 to 12 communities
- To bring the new entrants to the same level as the individuals who had participated in the Nama massed choir festival on 1 September 2007
- To broaden the participation bass for a possible festival during September 2008

• Mr. Bradley van Sitters
- Report on the works and activities of the KSAAG structure in the Cape and surrounding areas
- To underline the importance of continued workshop (learning) programme beyond the scope of the Basic Introduction Workshops
- Online presence serves the broader Khoe and San communities of Southern Africa
- On request of accredited workshop facilitators, KSAAG presented Linguistic workshop programmes

• Mr. Billies Poma
- Reported on the work of the South African San Institute (SASI); some of there challenges dealing with 3 groups of San people in 6 countries (South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola and Namibia).
- Whereby also 3 Language Boards have been established and processes are underway for the various San dialects to be standardized within Dictionaries and textbooks. 
- They have also established a museum, heritage sites and a tourist centre
